On Lake Michigan,
10 miles north of downtown Chicago

The 11th SXNS conference will take place from 14th to 17th of July, 2010 nearby Chicago, jointly organized by Northwestern University and the Argonne National Laboratory. This series, started in 1989 in Marseille, brings together researchers studying surfaces and interfaces of solid, liquid, biological and soft matter via neutron or x-ray (either hard, soft, or EUV) scattering techniques.

The main topics selected for the conference are:

-  Interfaces in Energy
(fuel cells, energy storage, electrochemistry, geochemistry)
-  Interfacial Molecular Dynamics
-  Interfacial Reactions (growth, processing)
-  Nanoscale-materials (structure and dynamics)
-  Surfaces and interfaces of liquids and soft condensed matter
-  Kinetics in 2D self-assembly
-  Membranes and biologically active interfaces
-  Emergent Interfacial Materials Properties
    (magnetism, multiferroics, spintronics, etc.)
-  Interfacial coherent X-ray scattering and imaging
-  Novel Instrumentation/Theory
-  New Horizons and Opportunities from new facilities

The bi-annual SXNS series has been held in Saint-Aubin, France (2008), Taipei, Taiwan (2006), Bad Honnef, Germany (2004), Lake Tahoe, USA (2002), Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands (1999), Oxford, UK (1997), Lake Geneva, USA (1995), Dubna, Russia (1993), Bad Honnef, Germany (1991), and Marseille, France (1989).
